The Wind Bird Coat by Mina Perhonen is crafted from an incredibly intricate cotton pile fabric. The fabric, which allows you to feel the rich texture of the thread, is made by a weaver in Wakayama Prefecture, the only company in Japan that uses this technique to create fabric. The coat features tonal lining, a notched collar and deep front pockets. The silhouette is oversized to highlight the beautiful scene that spreads across the fabric, depicting birds flying through the snow. It is a gorgeous piece that will become the focal point of any outfit.

We purchase each of our collections in limited numbers, so we do not accept returns or exchanges in-store or online based on change of mind.
If a piece is deemed faulty, we will repair it if appropriate to do so, replace it if possible, issue a credit note, or issue a refund in keeping with Australian consumer law.

Purchases of Metta Melbourne can be returned for a credit or exchange, provided they are returned unworn, still tagged, and within 7 days. A credit or exchange will be granted if terms are agreed to, less administrative costs. Credit must be used within 6 months of receipt.

Please check all measurements in the product description before placing your order. If you are unsure about your size or have any questions, please contact us here. We recommend measuring a garment in your closet that fits you well and use that as a guide.

Note, that although we try our best to accurately represent colours, colours may vary slightly due to the monitor or screen you are using.

There are no returns or exchanges on any of our International Brands, unless the item is faulty.

If you purchase an item from outside of Australia, please note that we will not declare a lower item value for the purpose of reducing duties costs.

We ship internationally with DHL. If you refuse a delivery or don't pick the item up, we will ask DHL to destroy the parcel and will not offer a refund.

Online purchases of Metta Melbourne, from within Australia, can be returned for a credit or exchange provided they are returned unworn, still tagged, and within 7 days of delivery. A credit or exchange for the cost of item only (not shipping) will be granted if terms are agreed to. Return shipping costs, Shopify fees (2%) and taxes are to be paid by the customer and a restocking fee of 20% of RRP may apply. Any credits must be used within 6 months of receipt.

Customers are entitled to one return of Metta Melbourne items per transaction. We reserve the right to refuse orders from customers with re-current returns.

We reserve the right to reject any request for returns that do not comply with the conditions above or do not fall under Australian consumer law. If your return is approved but after review your package is not accepted, it will be sent back to you at your cost and a return will not be granted.

Due to the nature of the dyeing process, Metta colours will vary between dye lots. This is not deemed as a fault. If you wish to match two Metta pieces together we recommend coming in store.

Are there any charges for returns?

- Original shipping charges are non-refundable

- Original tax and duty is non-refundable

- You are responsible for return shipping charges and any duties payable

- 20% of RRP re-stocking fee to cover administrative fees and charges

Once your order is placed, we typically ship within 1 to 3 days. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout, where you will have the option to choose between Regular or express post.

Domestic Orders

Within Australia, we ship via Australia Post, using both Regular and Express Post Services, you have the option to choose which service you would prefer at the checkout. We also offer a pick up option if you would like to come and collect your item.

We offer Free Regular Post delivery on all Australian orders over $400, which includes signature on delivery.

You'll receive an email notification once your order has been sent, including a tracking number. Please check your spam folder if you do not receive an email immediately after placing an order with us.

Once your order leaves us, we cannot be held responsible for any delays, misplaced or stolen packages. We highly recommend using a secure delivery address and keeping up with the movement of your package during transit.

International Orders

International orders are delivered Express by DHL. We are unable to provide guaranteed delivery dates for these packages, and are not responsible for any delays.

Please note that customs and duties are not included in your order, and vary from country to country. We do not cover the cost of duties and taxes and will not accept returns due to these extra costs incurred. It is up to the purchaser to research duties and taxes in their own country.

Remote Area Delivery Fee: Please note, if your shipping address is considered 'remote' by DHL, it will incur an additional AUD$35 shipping fee. We will contact you via email should this apply.

To our dear USA customers

From 29 August 2025, the US government will introduce new tariffs on all imported goods, regardless of value. The tariff cost will depend on where the item was made. Since Scarlet Jones works with designers from around the world, this may vary. You’ll find the country of origin listed on each product page in our online store.

In addition, there may be extra administrative costs. Based on our current logistics model, we expect:

A DHL handling fee of USD 17 per shipment or 2% of fiscal charges (this has been officially confirmed by DHL).
A possible US government processing fee, which we currently estimate to be around USD 10 per order — however, this amount has not yet been officially confirmed.

These charges (tariff + DHL fee + any US government fee) will be collected by DHL before your order is released by US Customs.

If you choose not to pay these charges, your order will return to us in Australia. In that case, we’ll process a refund less shipping and related costs.
